What this engagement is
A Mock Pre-Assessment is run by the same playbook a real C3PAO assessor will use. Evidence collection drills, control-owner interview sessions, document inspection, and gap closeout for items uncovered. The point is to find the cracks before the real assessor does — when there's still time to fix them.
The most common findings from a mock: documentation inconsistencies between the SSP and the actual configuration, control owners who can't articulate their own controls under questioning, and evidence that exists but isn't where the assessor will look for it. None of these are fatal in a mock. All of them are expensive in the real thing.
We recommend scheduling the mock 60-90 days before the real C3PAO engagement. That gives enough runway to close any gaps discovered without rushing remediation.
